Post-it City. Occasional urbanities was presented in December 2005 at the EACC in Castelló, as part of the exhibition Contemporàni@ 05. Interferences in the city and its associated landscapes.
As the result of this presentation a series of meetings was held, attended by different work groups, comprising students at different stages of their studies. The members of the work groups aren’t associated with any particular subject and their participation isn’t considered as an extension of the contents of their course. Each one of them is in a different location and they come from different places in Spain and South America. In addition to this, the occupation of spaces for the discussion sessions and the use of resources aren’t officially associated with the Fine Arts Faculty. The group members occupy the university infrastructures in an “occasional” way. The working methodology used involved setting a calendar of meetings in which the different participants would present their projects which would then be subject to a group discussion.
The occasionalities found and generated in Valencia have materialised in those question related to the allotments under threat, the homeless, uses of public parks, the occupation of housing, calls for pedestrianisation, other types of commerce and abandoned architecture.
The projects and their participants were as follows: Urban collection (Manuel Antonio Domínguez Gómez, Álvaro León Acosta, Cláudia Zanatta, Antonio Landa), Diversions (Cláudia Paim), Small idea (La TejedoraCCEC), The urban allotment: a form of resistance (Inmaculada López Liñán), Take me where you fuck (Pepe Miralles), Marking places (Romina Rebolledo), Singular productions of subjectivity: Footprints (Salomé Rodríguez), Ademuz Bridge (Manuel Antonio Domínguez Gómez, Álvaro León Acosta, Cláudia Zanatta, Antonio Landa), Practices of occasionality: measuring the city (Silvia Melgar).
