The photographic series Scary Asian Men documents an everyday scene in Istanbul: anonymous individuals, sitting or relaxing in the fake green zones around the motorway that connects the Asian part of Istanbul with the European part.

The silent presence of the figures, unaware that they are being photographed, alludes ironically to the supposed threat posed by Turks as they wait and lie in wait on the threshold of Europe. The photographs were originally exhibited with the image of a constantly moving star projected over them, conveying a sense of unease and suggesting the 26th potential star of the European Union.
